The Wooden Birds declare "Criminals Win"

There are actually a good number of great shots on The Wooden Birds new video for "Criminals Win." The song comes from the band's sophomore release, Two Matchsticks, and the video is available for your viewing pleasure above.

Pterodactyl make a Break for it

We were going to call Pterodactyl's new video for "The Break" a collection of still images, but aren't ALL movies technically just a collection of still images? Pterodactyl's just move slow enough for you to see each one, and they don't necessarily make cohesive movements in the traditional sense. You have to see it for yourself above.

Pterodacty tour dates:
Dec 8 - Milwaukee @ Frank’s Power Plant
Dec 9 - Chicago, IL @ Empty Bottle
Dec 12 - Montreal, QC @ Reserve Phonique
Dec 14 - Winooski, VT @ Monkey House
Dec 15 - Northampton, MA @ Flywheel

Sparks fly on new Deer Tick video

It starts off with a single small explosion hitting Deer Tick's keyboardist. It soon expands into a full-fledged explosion, and just continues to get more destructive from there. By the end of the video, there's nothing left, just smoldering ruins. Oh, and there's also some urine, so you might not want to view this one at work.

New releases for the week of December 6, 2011

Without a doubt, the biggest release this week is the posthumous one from Amy Winehouse, Lioness: Hidden Treasures (pictured). It feels like the album was rushed to be put out after Winehouse's death, but don't expect to be disappointed. It will surely act as a fitting conclusion to the troubled singer's career. However, don't let this record overshadow others for the week like The Spinto Band, T-Pain, and The Silent League. There's a live album from The Cure, some comedy from Carlos Mencia, and the first season of Portlandia comes out on DVD!

Darren Aronofsky directs Lou Reed and Metallica

It isn't often when a big name director will take on music videos these days, but it's not often when you get a big time collaboration like Lou Reed and Metallica. The epic joining of the two acts for the song "The View" gets directed by Darren Aronofsky, and it's very reminiscent of his movie Pi. Check it out above.

They Might Be Giants go electronic

We love it when a band that has been around for a while can still surprise us. Such is the case with the new video from They Might Be Giants. It's not the visuals that bowl us over, it's the music.
