Earth Crisis declare "Total War"

You probably don't need me to describe what a video from a act with a band name like Earth Crisis and a song title like "Total War." Do you? Expect things to get heavy with plenty of moshing, quite a few straight-edge Xs on people's hands, and an aggressive frontman. Mayer Hawthorne packs some heat

The contrast between the violent imagery of the video for Mayor Hawthorne's "The Walk" and the laid back sound of the music is sort of hilarious. Watch it above for what may be the worst breakup ever...

Talkdemonic to tour with The Flaming Lips

Though it's great news that Ruins, the new album from Talkdemonic, is out this week, it's probably even better news for the band that they'll be out on tour later this month with the one and only Flaming Lips. One of the CMJ takes place at Pianos on October 21, and they'll be playing the next day too (at a venue TBA).

When Saints Go Machine visit "Parix"

When Saints Go Machine made a beautiful video for their song "Parix." It feels both faded and crisp--with a powerful story--in a way that really defies expectations. You can view it above. And (of course) the song comes from the recently released Konkylie album.

New releases for the week of October 4, 2011

Though this week's new releases is full of all sorts of very exciting releases (such as a whole bunch of vinyl reissues from Dinosaur Jr. and a DVD from "Weird Al" Yankovic's latest round of touring), we're most giddy about the new album from AIDS Wolf, Ma Vie Banale Avant-Garde (pictured). But, of course, the new releases don't stop there. Bar/None puts out the latest from Emperor X, Warner Bros. has a new one from Mutemath, and FatCat releases an album from We Were Promised Jetpacks. However, the album clogging up our inbox the most has got to be the soundtrack for a video game, Batman: Arkham City – The Album is a compilation that features Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Panic at the Disco, Serj Tankian, and many, many more. With the all star line-up, we're surprised we didn't hear even MORE about it. Other new releases are posted below.

Okay, so Jessie J's new single, "Who You Are," isn't quite as catchy as her big hit, "Price Tage," but we're got the new video above. It's a pretty great video, and very fitting the mood of the song.
