With a few residencies starting out tonight (Jason Anderson plays a few consecutive Mondays at Cake Shop, Noah and the Whale starts their first of three days at the Mercury Lounge), I sort of felt like I had to give the nod to a one off show, Fuck Buttons at the Bowery Ballroom. What actually makes this show stand out is the strength of the two openers, Growing and These Are Powers. Both usually play the DIY circuit (shows at Death by Audio are fairly common for both), but they're also loved by larger bands. As a result, they play these larger, more formal spaces from time to time and always rock them away.
