Loney Dear | Bowery Ballroom | October 16, 2009

I feel a little silly that I've been getting this band's name wrong, but I only just now noticed it. Oops! Anyway, Sweden's Loney Dear played at Bowery Ballroom the other night in between Anna Ternheim's opening set and Asobi Seksu's headlining one. The set seemed a little awkward to me. While I appreciate the efforts to get audience participation, a little explanation on how to do so would've been nice. It seemed only a few small number of people understood that when he pulled out a little stick, that it was a signal to sing as if being instructed by a band conductor. Then he insisted people sing louder. It was weird.
