Liveblogging the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards

So I may give up part of the way through this liveblog. I'm sure MTV's Music Video Awards will get to me, and I will give it up. However, let's give this a try.

9:26PM Wha? Did Kanye West just interrupt Taylor Swift to hype Beyonce? (Yes, he did!) Is Kanye the new Old Dirty Bastard? I guess I should point out that Swift's win pretty much blows a whole in that leaked winners list.

9:36PM Best Rock Video. Green Day wins. No surprise there. Ho hum.

9:40PM Taylor Swift performs in the NYC Subway. Excuse me, a stage made to look like a NYC Subway. I think I would've preferred to see actual subway performers...

9:43PM Can you say, "REALLY PUSHING TAYLOR SWIFT?"

9:50PM Lady Gaga is a total freak. Sadly, that might make her the second best thing about tonight after Kanye's freakout.

10:03PM Best Pop Video. This awards ceremony is going sloooooow. Britney Spears wins. She ain't there though. Guess it ain't worth her time. Maybe this whole thing isn't worth ours?

10:06PM For a three piece rock band, there sure are a lot of playing instruments on stage for this Green Day performance. This editing out bad words is getting annoying.

10:11PM Best Performance in a Pepsi Rock Band video? Did I hear that right?

10:24PM Though the Jonas Brothers may be in attendance, I don't think any of them are in Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance troupe...maybe they'll surprise me by the end.

10:31PM Best Male Video. This might be the last award I watch. I'm not sure I can take much more of this. Did they just boo Kanye West? I hope he wins now...

10:33PM T.I. wins. He can't appear, sadly. You know, prison and everything.

10:35PM Muse? Really? I guess Twilight is really shilling out and has a huge influence.

10:40PM The 30 Rock bumps are the best thing about this ceremony.

10:49PM Okay, I lied. I'm still here for the Best Hip-Hop Video. Eminem won for an awful video. Ugh.

10:58PM Best New Artist. Tracey Morgan is amazing, but Lady Gaga (thanks to, um, two #1 hits) easily wins. Is that even fair? Think about it.

11:00PM Serena Williams=excellent casting. Surprisingly fewer boos than Kanye West.

11:04PM I'm switching over to watch Mad Men.

11:30PM Clicked back over during the commercial. Another MJ tribute. Looks like it's wrapping up more or less on time.
