SHILPA RAY AND HER HAPPY HOOKERS

@ DEATH BY AUDIO
49 S 2nd Street
Brooklyn, NY 11211
$TBA, 8:00PM

Ex-Beat the Devil (actually now defunct), Shilpa Ray, now leads her happy hookers in the same punk-cabaret styling we know and love. Jason recommended them when they played Solar One with Fiasco. This show is different, Shilpa and her Happy Hookers are headlining and playing in a lovely venue indoors - a very important aspect, given that it may pour tonight. Also sharing the stage are Soft Black, Werewolves, Eyes, and Jesus Is Angry.

If the skies are not gray, and you're more of an outdoorsy person...
TED LEO AND THE PHARMACISTS, RADIO 4, EXTRA GOLDEN

@ PIER 54
Hudson River Park
West Street and 13th Street
Manhattan, NY 10014
FREE, 7:00PM

TL/Rx are an indie rock staple by now, they've even played the free River to River Fest series the past few years; if you don't know them you should check them out TODAY! They haven't released a new album since 2007, so expect oldies but goodies. And hey, who can pass up a free show? Recession special, ya know? Also playing is dance-punk band who's also been around the block, Radio 4, and Extra Golden.
