Jay Reatard | Stuy Town | July 1, 2009
Seeing Jay Reatard at Stuy Town was a sort of surreal experience. The field was a little soggy in random places (hopefully from the wet weather that has plagued New York City throughout the month of June and not a leaky septic tank but either one is likely), and there were quite a number of young kids brought by their parents. I understand bringing children to a concert, but would parents really be so foolish to drag their young ones to a guy who goes by the name Jay Reatard? Fortunately for the under six crowd in attendance, Jay Reatard kept to the set without shooting his mouth off. I'm actually hoping that he'll be a little more wild tonight (July 2) at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. The music was fun, punk and enjoyable. His new album Watch Me Fall will be released by Matador Records on August 18. Photos from the show are below.
